How Do Bloggers Get Started?

To start, there’s a specific step-by-step method. Each blogger may concentrate more in one area than another, but the basics are followed by all, and those steps are:

    Open your laptop

Create a website – There are great hosting sites available in various price ranges. I’m using Wealthy Affiliate (FREE to start and includes 2 websites). Click Here for more information. Bloggers do not have to know computer code like in the old days. Templates are given to them, designed for a variety of niches or topics. Most host sites are very user-friendly and if the blogger can operate a WORD application or cellular phone, then putting together a website will not be a problem. It can be done in less than an hour!

You can even write on the go

Develop site by writing blogs – A blog or content can be anywhere from 300 to 1500 words, more or less. The minimum and maximum amounts of words given here has to do with how readers perceive content on-line. Give a reader too little on a topic and they will look elsewhere for answers. Give too much and unless its totally engaging, they’ll stop reading before the end.

    Start with people you know

Attract an audience – An audience or traffic is what this entire endeavor hinges upon. Without readership, there is no reason to spend the time, expense and/or effort building a website and writing post after post on-line. Of course, there are primary reasons for writing, having to do with one’s personal achievement of a goal accomplished. The secondary purpose, however, having people enjoy an artist’s work, is what earning online income is all about. “I can’t write without a reader. It’s precisely like a kiss—you can’t do it alone.” John Cheever

After the Website Has Been Created, Then Comes Monetizing It

Bloggers implement a device known as monetizing to their websites as a way of creating an income. What is monetizing? Most formal definitions give very broad explanations of the word, and not much on internet interests. In the on-line world, it simply means making the website profitable. Blogger’s writings bring in an audience; the audience provides the atmosphere conducive for sales opportunities. Though, before giving a list of marketing possibilities, it should be mentioned that websites that sell things can often drive people away as well. Monetization can be a delicate balancing act. Bloggers can never appear as if they are salespeople following customers around a store trying to spritz them with perfume. So, with that word of caution, please find some monetizing elements employed by many bloggers:

  • Become an Affliate Marketer – Most on-line stores have Affiliate Programs; that is to say, a way of becoming a ‘partner’ of their company. The Partnership Agreement with an on-line store is the process of allowing bloggers to put the store’s merchandise on blogger’s website, and in return bloggers receive commission for sales. This is a great arrangement. Blogger’s website becomes an extension of that company’s store. Click Here to see an actual example on Amazon.com.
  • Pay-Per-Click – Search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing give bloggers the ability to place store ad campaigns within blogger’s site. When a blog visitor clicks onto one of these ads, the blogger receives payment. Payments are provided by the stores who are advertising their goods in these ad campaigns. Unlike the commissions for sales (above), the blog visitor need not buy anything. If they simply click on an ad, blogger will get paid for that click. Seems too good to be true, right? Well, before we start counting money, please note that these partnerships have strict requirements. Bloggers must maintain a certain amount of traffic (audience) coming regularly to their site. If blogger falls short of that number (specific target depends on search engine), blogger could lose their partnership privileges. Please refer back to the words, “Attract an Audience,” and its significance here.

    Write for a living

Become a Ghost Writer – In this scenario, please note that not everyone loves to write, but they do love having websites and generating an income from them. Bloggers can be hired by other bloggers to write content. Though, why stop with writing for other bloggers? How about companies with a blog roll? How about on-line magazines? Let’s face it, some people view writing as a form of punishment and will actually PAY to have someone else do it for them. Blogger first set-ups a profile of themselves basically advertising their services as writers. Some of these sites require a grammar test before they allow writers to join. This is wonderful for bloggers who enjoy writing. The only downside is that the starting rate can be as low as $4 and up per 1000 word articles. With the low end, earning $400 will require the blogger to produce 100 blogs! If everything begins in seed form, bloggers should consider the act of taking the lesser paying jobs as stepping stones toward greater opportunities. Consider them like building a resume, as your curriculum vitae grows, so does one’s authority in an area of expertise. Here are some sites looking for writers: Fiverr, UpWork, HireWriters, and WritersWork, to name a few. Blogger can become an affiliate on some of these sites too.

    Design your own product

Sell Your Own Products – Create an eBook, develop a product or obtain FREE products (that is correct, FREE) to sell on one’s website. Many bloggers have written books that they sale electronically on their websites. These ebooks can be on topics pertaining to the niche, training or anything relevant to one’s audience.

So Many Opportunities on How to Become a Blogger and Get Paid For It

In truth, the list above is really just to get you started on your journey.  There is much, much more to explore.  Plus, as you begin, there will undoubtedly be discoveries that you’ll make along the way.  At least, that is what happened to me.  As your audience broadens and your network increases, you’ll find that you may prefer to concentrate only in one area rather than in them all.  This is the nature of blogging, its beauty, and its mystery.  Now, all you have to do is go write something!
